Move into the Liberation for which we are designed: work with Veena Vasista and The Feldenkrais Method®

Liberating Moves is a movement practice for anyone feeling constrained and in pain from fear, pressure, overwhelm, injury and the struggles of everyday life.
I work with the Feldenkrais Method® as a way of cultivating freedom and Love – the daily practice of care, compassion, curiosity and accountability in service to wholeness. I offer you the possibility to experience less pain, a more settled nervous system, greater compassion and ease.

Liberating Moves explicitly aims to serve social activists, artists/culture workers, community builders and those in public service – from the senior policymaker to the frontline service provider.
I’ve been in all of these roles. My intention is to support you to do the vital work you do for individual and collective well-being. I offer you a counter-cultural practice to experience rest as a resource, deep compassion, moments of ease and less effort in yourself, and an embodied connection with autonomy.

The Feldenkrais Method® engages with gentle movements to disrupt the everyday habits and norms suffocating our vitality and creativity.
This somatic learning practice works explicitly with the skeletal and nervous systems – bone-deep learning working with the brain’s inherent capacity to reconfigure and reshape how we be and do. I think of this practice as disrupting and reconfiguring systems and culture from the inside out.

Group classes and one-to-one sessions are open to people of all shapes, sizes, ages, identities and movement abilities and are adaptable to meet diverse student circumstances.
I’m currently not running group classes.  I am available for one-to-one sessions in person and online. Contact me if you would like an initial free, thirty minute consultation. Group classes will resume in 2022 – stay tuned! To stay notified, please sign up (if you haven’t already) for the Liberating Moves mailing list.

"Veena's ability to keep me relaxed, focused on self-care while I find those nuances in my body, introducing me to how I hold myself is extraordinary. Her voice and words are extremely calming and resonate deep beyond the awareness class. My body and mind benefit immensely and I look forward to each class."

ABOUT THE FELDENKRAIS METHOD®

The Feldenkrais Method® is a portal to self-learning and internal systems/culture re-configuration.  Through slow and gentle movements (in structured Awareness Through Movement® lessons or individualized Functional Integration® sessions) we gather evidence, based on your first-hand experiences. We test out options to arrive at easier, clearer, more effective ways of moving.  We see and work with you in your wholeness – shaped as you are by distinct combination of thoughts, feelings, sensations and movements/actions.

The movements and sensory observations engage you at a systemic level, e.g., the nervous system, the skeletal system, the muscular system, the visual system etc. With each movement, these systems are taken into a conversation with one another – you unconsciously learn and reconfigure yourself.

In Feldenkrais, rest is a space for intelligence gathering and integration. Quality matters more than quantity. We encourage self-learning through exploration, curiosity, non-judgement, ease and playfulness. Engaging with the Method is an opportunity to practice and expand self-awareness, to bear witness to yourself and to start reshaping your internal culture.

The Method is accessible to people of all shapes, sizes, ages, identities and movement abilities. I endeavor to adapt individual sessions, classes and workshop content to meet diverse student circumstances.  I regularly (and upon request) hold classes which are only for people from Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities.
